CO-Sen: I track certain races closely because of CPA membership in the area, or because the race is significant on trade in another way. Andrew Romanoff is a Dem challenger to incumbent Senator Michael Bennet. Bennet leads in polls and money, Romanoff is giving him heartburn, and Romanoff has a great trade position.
CPA is having a July 20, 2010 candidate forum in Colorado Springs. Romanoff and GOP candidate Ken Buck have committed to attend.
But today’s post is to highlight an oddity in this race. Bill Clinton endorsed Romanoff against Bennet (the primaries in Colorado are in August). The White House likes Bennet. Who knows if this helps or hurts Romanoff?
(Stumo note: I corrected the last paragraph to say Clinton endorsed Romanoff against Bennet, not Buck.)

Head to head matchups in the general election are here.

The Denver Post reports that its polling shows that 56% of Coloradans put jobs and the economy as the number 1 issue facing the country.
Maybe the candidates will actually start dealing with those issues. One of the first ones to take the issue head on in the Colorado Senate election campaign is Democrat Andrew Romanoff. We’re working on Republican candidates Ken Buck and Jane Norton. Michael Bennet, the Dem incumbent, has been nonresponsive.
